Black & White Portraits

One of Evan’s most inspirational types of photography is his black-and-white portraits. These portraits took on a style and meaning of their own being created in his first studio. These portraits were originally shot with black-and-white film and photographed with a Hasselblad camera.

His first images were  Pregnancy before it became fashionable as well as bodybuilders and bridal portraits and weddings. These days, he loves finding the character in an older generation which includes World War II veterans, people with Alzheimers and of course, couples. Evan’s creativity doesn’t stop there he, loves finding new inspiration in new types of subjects the time.

Nowadays Evan has continued to create these images digitally.

STUDIO PORTRAITS

Studio portraits can also be done on location!

Sometimes it’s not always possible for someone to get into the studio, for this reason, Evan can go on location and take a studio set up with him. He has worked in some very tight spaces on location and has always made it work out.

Why Evan loves studio portraits.

Evan was given a box of family photographs that have been up in his cousins closet for approximately 30 years untouched. When his cousin gave the box of photographs over to Evan he did not want them back, he wanted them to go where they would be appreciated and taken care of. Evan completely scrap booked all the photographs in two volumes, some of them are from the early 1900s. There are studio portraits and candids from his dad side. These portraits include Evan’s great grandparents and great uncles and aunts. In the pile of photographs and papers he even found his grandparents Jewish marriage license, a “Ketubah.”

“Spread love everywhere you go. Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier.”

My Father Leon

Dad had started showing signs of all timers and dementia several years before this portrait was taken. I knew this portrait had to be taken soon because we were losing Dad more and more every day.

My Aunt Sally

My aunt Sally is on my mother’s side. This portrait of my her was taken the same time that I had photographed my father. Aunt Sally and my father we’re both diagnosed with Alzheimer’s about the same time. My aunt sally progressed more rapidly than my dad.

My Uncle Murray

As I write this, my uncle Murry is eight days from his 95th birthday! Murray served in WWII with the Navy.

Evan is fantastic, he has a really artistic eye, makes the event fun, captures the moment, is very responsive, and on top of things. We know many people that haven’t gotten their albums yet, and it’s been over a year! Evan got us our album in about three weeks. He’s the best!
